Buttsbury Pre-school Billericay operates a 'Risers' session every Thursday (Monday from September 2025) afternoon during term-time for our three-to-four-year-olds who will start ‘big school’ in September. 

What are Risers?

During our Risers sessions, children will participate in activities designed to help them transition to school by encouraging social interaction with their peers, promoting independence, and extending their learning and development. These sessions are part of our ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding pre-school experience for children in Billericay.

An example of the activities for Risers includes inviting outside professionals for music sessions, sports coaching, and dance lessons. We also organise Christmas and ‘End of Year’ parties, featuring traditional party games and gifts for the children. Additionally, the children will have the opportunity to create gifts and ornaments for special occasions, including Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and festivals such as Diwali and Christmas.

What does my child need for their Riser session?

We ask that you provide your child with:

• Plimsolls
• A change of clothes for P.E.
• A t-shirt and shorts for warmer weather
• A tracksuit when it is cooler

What is the Riser Fee?

Please note that families will be charged a one-off fee of £45.00 before starting their Risers sessions to cover the cost of inviting outside professionals, purchasing supplies, and sourcing gifts. This fee helps us ensure the best quality experience for your child at our Billericay pre-school.

If you are unable to pay the additional charge for Riser’s activities, please speak to our Finance Officer. We strive to make sure every child has the opportunity to participate in our offerings, regardless of financial circumstances.

What happens if my child doesn't attend a Risers session?

If your child is unable to attend our Risers sessions, rest assured that all of our three-to four-year-olds receive age and stage-appropriate learning during Circle Time, held every morning and afternoon.
