The Parent Committee

Buttsbury Pre-school is a small charitable business. Fees cover the running costs of the pre-school but it is the fundraising activities organised by the Committee that enable us to replace and purchase vital equipment from small play resources such as paint, paper and books to larger items such as outdoor toys, tables and chairs and even annual trips.

The efforts of the Committee enable us to make the experience of coming to Pre-school an enriched one for all of the children in our care.

Committee members are volunteers, their time is given freely so they choose how much time they have available to support the wide variety of fundraising activities undertaken throughout the year. There are lots of jobs big and small and even an hour of help given by a parent is invaluable – as the saying goes, many hands make light work!

Meetings are held every 6/8 weeks in the new training room, where coffee and biscuits are provided. We are always looking for new ideas and everyone’s input is valued. Why not come along and find out for yourself?

The History of 'Parent Power'

In 1975 a group of Billericay parents decided there was a need for a relaxed environment where they could socialise and their children could play together – Buttsbury Playgroup was born. Over the years trained staff have became a necessity and we are now known as Buttsbury Pre-school. Despite the changes the emphasis on play and social interaction is still of the utmost importance.

Parents are still hugely involved in the running of the pre-school, including employment of staff and fund raising. Over the years a dedicated team of staff and an indispensable parent committee have made Buttsbury Pre-school the success it is today.
