Buttsbury
Pre-school opened in 1975 and officially became a charity in
December 2003.
We offer a safe, caring and stimulating
environment for young children, in
which each child is encouraged to
explore and learn.
Our staff, guided by the
supervision of Mrs Ann Eldridge, who has been with the pre-school
for 18 years, have a collective total of 77 years
relevant experience; providing your children with the benefit
of their skills, enthusiasm and commitment.
Since
opening in 1975 we have strived to listen to and work with
parents, and with professional and regulatory bodies, to
ensure that best practise in childcare is achieved.
You will
find us
within the grounds of the
Buttsbury Infant School, in Perry Street, Billericay and
therefore a close bond and friendship has formulated with
the Infant School over the years.

The pre-school is regulated by
Ofsted and is a member of the
Pre-school Learning Alliance.
History
Twenty
five years ago a group of parents decided that there was a
need in Billericay for mums and children to meet together in
an informal and relaxed atmosphere and for the children to
socialise and learn to play together – from this evolved
Buttsbury Playgroup which in latter years became Buttsbury
Pre-school.
In earlier
days the playgroup was run purely by mothers whose children
attended. Over the years things have gradually changed.
Trained staff became a necessity and Social Services began
regular inspections of the groups. Ofsted inspections are
now carried out, and we now follow the curriculum guidelines
for the foundation stage.
These days
parents are still very much involved. A committee of parents
oversees the smooth running of the group, the employment of
staff and fund raise on its behalf, to ensure that your
children have the most up to date toys and equipment
available to them.
Despite
the changes the emphasis on play and the social interaction
between children and staff alike is still of the utmost
importance.
To anyone
who has been involved with the group over the years we send
greetings and thank you for all the hard work that has gone
into making the pre-school the success that it is today. |
